
Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, and renowned industrialist, Alhaji Mohammed Indimi, on Tuesday, paid a condolence visit to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State over the death of elder statesman, Prof. Jibril Aminu.
The delegation, which included prominent sons of Borno, was received at the Government House, Yola, where Governor Zulum expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the distinguished scholar and politician.
“We in Borno regard the late Prof. Jibril Aminu as one of our own. His immense contributions to the development of education and national growth, particularly in Borno State, remain indelible,” Zulum said during the visit.
On his part, Alhaji Indimi prayed for the repose of the late professor’s soul and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the people of Adamawa State.
Responding, Governor Fintiri thanked the delegation for the visit, describing the passing of Prof. Aminu as “a colossal loss to Adamawa, the North-East, and Nigeria at large.”
He also prayed for the continued strengthening of the cordial relationship between Adamawa and Borno States, in honour of Prof. Aminu’s legacy and for the benefit of the region.
Prof. Jibril Aminu, an erudite academic and respected public figure, died on Thursday, January 5, 2025, after a brief illness. He was aged 85.
