Zulum Inspects Projects, Plans Resettlement of Three Bama Communities

Gov. Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has concluded a two-day assessment tour of frontline locations in the southern and central parts of the state, where he inspected key reconstruction projects and announced plans to resettle three more communities displaced by insurgency.

The governor, during the visit, inspected ongoing construction of 500 permanent resettlement houses and over 3,000 temporary shelters in Mayinti and DaraJamal communities in Bama Local Government Area.

Zulum said preparations had reached an advanced stage to facilitate the resettlement of Kumshe, Mayinti, and Tarmuwa—communities that were displaced during the height of the Boko Haram insurgency.

“We are committed to restoring the dignity of our people by ensuring safe and dignified resettlement with basic infrastructure,” the governor said.

Earlier in Kirawa, Zulum approved the construction of a hospital and water facilities, along with the reconstruction of other critical infrastructure destroyed by insurgents.

He also visited Banki, a strategic border town near the Republic of Cameroon, where he met with stakeholders to review and strengthen existing security arrangements following a recent insurgent attack in the area.

The governor was accompanied by a federal lawmaker representing the area, Hon. Bukar Talba; Acting Chief of Staff, Dr Babagana Mustapha Mallumbe; members of the State Executive Council, and other top government officials.

Gov. Zulum reiterated his administration’s resolve to sustain humanitarian and developmental interventions in conflict-affected communities across the state.
