
Gov. Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno has approved the appointment of four principal officers for the newly established Colleges of Nursing in Monguno and Gwoza Local Government Areas.
The approval was contained in a statement issued on Monday night by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Bukar Tijani.
According to the statement, the appointees include Mrs. Zainab Ali Grema, Provost, College of Nursing, Monguno; Mr. Aji Bukar, Provost, College of Nursing, Gwoza; Mr. Umar M. Mustapha, Registrar, College of Nursing, Monguno; and Mrs. Linda Charles Usman, Registrar, College of Nursing, Gwoza.
The appointments, which take effect from Sept. 8, were made from Dikwa, Gwoza, Monguno and Hawul Local Government Areas.
The statement noted that Grema holds a Bachelor of Nursing (BNSC) and a Master’s degree in Reproductive Health, and served for 10 years in the College of Nursing, Maiduguri, as Senior Lecturer, Deputy Coordinator of Community Midwifery, Dean of Student Affairs, and Examinations Officer.
Bukar, a native of Gwoza, holds Bachelor’s degrees in Health Education and Nursing, and has taught nursing and midwifery in Nigeria and Gambia. He is currently Deputy Provost at the College of Nursing, Maiduguri.
Zulum congratulated the newly appointed officers and urged them to deploy their wealth of experience towards advancing health education in the state.
Meanwhile, Zulum also approved the appointment of Mr. Ali Mamman Shuwa as the substantive General Manager of the Borno Radio Television (BRTV).
Until his appointment, Shuwa was the Director of Current Affairs in BRTV. He is a seasoned broadcaster and has held several managerial positions in the station.
The statement added that the appointment takes immediate effect, while the Acting General Manager, Umar Gazali, would return to his previous position.
The governor congratulated Shuwa on his new appointment and commended Gazali for his service in managing the affairs of the station.
