
The Yobe State Government has assured that justice will be served in the case of a four-year-old girl allegedly raped by a 22-year-old man in Jakusko Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect, Rabilu Sani, alleged to be HIV-positive, reportedly lured the child into a room and sexually assaulted her, causing severe injuries. Police sources said the assault also damaged the victim’s womb.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident on Thursday in Damaturu. He said the suspect was arrested on Nov. 9, 2025, adding that he would be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Ya Jalo Badama, gave the assurance of justice during a visit to the Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, at the Police Command Headquarters.
Badama condemned the act, describing it as inhuman and a gross violation of the rights of children. She urged the police to ensure diligent prosecution so the suspect faces the full weight of the law.
She reaffirmed that the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni would not tolerate any form of sexual abuse or violence against women and children.
Badama said the survivor would receive full medical and psychosocial support and directed that she be readmitted to hospital for further evaluation, treatment and counselling.
She assured that the government would monitor the case to ensure justice is served.
