The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), University of Maiduguri Branch, has commenced the disbursement of food items to interested staff of the institution under its Property and Investment Committee initiative.
The exercise, which began on Friday, Oct. 14, 2025, at the University Bookshop, is being implemented under the leadership of the Branch Chairman, Comrade Samaila Sadiq.
In a statement, the Branch Public Relations Officer, Mundi Suleiman Alhaji, said the distribution is structured to be paid in three tranches to ease financial pressure on beneficiaries.
He listed the food items available to staff to include a bag of rice, foreign spaghetti and macaroni, semovita, and 5 litres of vegetable oil.
Alhaji said the initiative was introduced to cushion the effects of rising food prices by providing essential commodities at reasonable and attractive rates.
He urged staff across all categories to take advantage of the scheme, adding that photos and videos of the exercise were attached for documentation.
