
The Spokesperson to the Governor of Borno State has commended the Women Opportunities for Learning Skills and Empowerment Initiative (WOLSEI) for its impactful digital skills training programme and provided financial support to boost community empowerment at a graduation ceremony held in Maiduguri.
The event, organised by WOLSEI in collaboration with the Progressive Youths Mind Forum, marked the graduation of 109 male and female participants trained in digital marketing and e-commerce under the theme “Empowering Voices Through Digital Literacy and Practical Skills.”
Speaking at the ceremony on Sunday, the Governor’s Spokesperson praised the organisers for equipping youths and women with relevant digital skills that promote self-reliance, innovation and sustainable livelihoods.
He described the financial support as part of his ongoing community engagement and assured the organisation of his readiness to collaborate further on youth and women empowerment initiatives across the state.
Also at the event, Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan (SAN), representing Borno Central Senatorial District, through the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Information, Hon. Dogo M. Shettima, announced the full sponsorship of 35 graduates into the Borno State Agency for Mass Literacy Education.
Hon. Dogo highlighted the senator’s contributions to educational development, noting that within two years he facilitated the establishment of a Federal University of Agriculture and an Entrepreneurship Centre in Bama Local Government Area, alongside sustained empowerment support for youths and women.
Similarly, the Chairman-elect of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council, Hon. Ali Ali Umar Bolori, pledged open-ended support for future empowerment programmes of WOLSEI, reaffirming his commitment to education, skills development and job creation in Borno State.
The ceremony also featured the presentation of Awards of Excellence to individuals recognised for their outstanding contributions to community development.
Among the recipients were the Permanent Secretary, Government House and Principal Private Secretary to the Governor, Barr. Mustapha Ali Bosuguma; the Governor’s Spokesperson; Hon. El-lawan Mustapha; Hon. Dogo M. Shettima; and Maina Ali, among other distinguished personalities.
Organisers described the graduation as a milestone in advancing digital literacy and practical skills among youths and women in Borno State, reinforcing pathways to sustainable livelihoods.
