Zulum Is Anchor of Unity, Progress — Ndume

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South Senatorial District, has reaffirmed his loyalty and support for Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, describing him as the anchor of the state’s unity, stability and development.

Ndume made the declaration while hosting Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs) to Governor Zulum from Borno South at his residence in Maiduguri during the ongoing legislative recess.

The courtesy visit, according to the senator, was part of his continuous engagements aimed at strengthening grassroots connection and promoting political cohesion across the senatorial district.

Addressing the aides, Ndume praised Governor Zulum’s leadership style, commitment and people-oriented governance, noting that the administration has provided a clear development roadmap for Borno State.

“With Zulum as our leader, half of our problems are already solved,” Ndume said. “He is not just our governor; he represents our collective vision and the spirit of our party. Wherever Governor Zulum stands, that is where we stand.”

Drawing from his long experience in public service, the senator said that although previous administrations in the state recorded notable achievements, Governor Zulum’s leadership stands out in terms of impact and visibility.

“I have been privileged to work with three different administrations. All did well, but Governor Zulum has been outstanding. My prayer for Borno State is that we continue along the path he has firmly laid,” he said.

Ndume charged the aides to serve as effective grassroots ambassadors by enlightening citizens on the achievements of the Zulum administration, particularly in infrastructure, security, health, education and the resettlement of internally displaced persons.

He also encouraged them to engage in productive ventures such as entrepreneurship, farming and animal rearing, stressing that economic engagement enhances personal value and contributes to societal stability.

The senator warned against divisive narratives, especially along religious lines, describing them as dangerous and counterproductive in a diverse society like Borno State.
“Never allow anyone to divide our people on the basis of religion. That narrative will not stand. Unity remains our greatest strength,” he said.

Ndume further urged the aides to take their responsibilities seriously by maintaining close contact with their communities, listening to the people and serving as a bridge between government policies and grassroots realities.

Responding on behalf of the delegation, the leader of the SSAs and SAs, Hon. Sawa, thanked Senator Ndume for the warm reception and his consistent advocacy for the interests of Borno South.

“We considered it important to visit and appreciate you for your tireless efforts and representation. Your commitment to the welfare of our people continues to inspire us,” he said.
