The Gombe State Command of the Federal Fire Service (FFS) on Wednesday decorated 35 officers who were recently promoted to higher ranks as part of a nationwide promotion exercise.
The decoration ceremony, held at the Conference Hall of the Federal Secretariat in Gombe, followed the promotion of 6,265 personnel of the Federal Fire Service across the country by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board, with the approval of the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
The event was attended by representatives of sister security agencies, the Gombe State Coordinator of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, the State Coordinator of the National Human Rights Commission, as well as the Chairman of the Forum of Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the state, Comrade Abubakar Sadiq Ahmed, among other stakeholders.
Speaking at the ceremony, the State Controller of the Federal Fire Service, DCF Sulaiman Mohammed Suleiman, said the promotion and decoration exercise underscored the service’s commitment to recognising hard work, professionalism and dedication to duty.
Suleiman noted that the exercise was aimed at boosting morale and enhancing operational efficiency within the command.
“This promotion is a clear demonstration of the Federal Fire Service’s resolve to reward dedication and meritorious service. It is also intended to strengthen professionalism and efficiency across the command,” he said.
He congratulated the promoted officers and urged them to regard their elevation as a call to higher responsibility and improved service delivery.
“Promotion comes with greater expectations. I charge you to justify the confidence reposed in you by remaining disciplined, loyal and committed to the highest standards of professionalism in the discharge of your duties,” he added.
The ceremony featured the formal decoration of the officers, marking a new phase in their careers within the Federal Fire Service.
