Fintiri boosts rural healthcare with six PHCs across Adamawa LGAs

The Adamawa State Government, under the administration of Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has constructed and rehabilitated six Primary Health Care (PHC) centres across five local government areas as part of efforts to strengthen rural healthcare delivery in the state.

The projects were executed through the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency and are spread across Maiha, Mubi North, Mubi South, Madagali and Michika Local Government Areas.

Some of the health facilities were implemented in collaboration with development partners, including the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), to improve access to quality healthcare services for rural communities.

The completed PHC centres are Mayo Nguli PHC in Maiha LGA; Monduva PHC in Mubi South LGA; Betso PHC in Mubi North LGA; Madagali Town PHC in Madagali LGA; as well as Moda PHC and Tsukumu PHC in Michika LGA.

The intervention is part of the Fintiri administration’s broader strategy to revitalise the primary healthcare system, reduce maternal and child mortality, and ensure that residents in hard-to-reach and conflict-affected communities have access to essential health services.

Officials of the Primary Health Care Agency said the upgraded facilities are equipped to provide basic medical services, including maternal and child healthcare, immunisation and disease prevention, thereby easing the burden on secondary and tertiary health institutions.

The government reiterated its commitment to expanding healthcare infrastructure across the state to meet the needs of the growing population and improve overall health outcomes, particularly in rural areas.
