Army Releases DSSC 29/2026 Shortlist, Set Reporting Deadline

The Nigerian Army, on Monday, released the list of successful candidates shortlisted for the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 29/2026 Selection Board, scheduled to hold from Feb. 23 to March 8, 2026.

A public announcement signed by the Military Secretary (Army) stated that the list is available on the Nigerian Army recruitment portal at https://recruitment.army.mil.ng.

According to the announcement, shortlisted candidates are required to report to the Nigerian Army School of Infantry (NASI), Jaji, Kaduna State, by 9 a.m. on Feb. 22, 2026. Candidates who fail to arrive at the venue by 6 p.m. on the same day will be automatically disqualified.

The Army explained that the selection exercise would comprise physical, medical and aptitude tests, in addition to an oral interview for all candidates.

Candidates are expected to report with several personal items, including writing materials, recent passport photographs, full-size coloured photographs in suit, WAEC and/or NECO scratch cards, white vests, blue shorts, canvas shoes or trainers, white socks, toiletries, beddings, and basic cutleries.

The announcement further stated that candidates must present originals and photocopies of relevant documents in a file jacket. These include academic and professional certificates, primary and secondary school certificates, NYSC discharge or exemption certificates, birth certificates or valid age declaration, state of origin certificates, BVN printouts authenticated by banks, and completed portal printouts, including referee forms.

The Army also disclosed that a coded AHQ MS Data Form and Indemnity Clause would be sent to shortlisted candidates via their registered email addresses and must be printed, completed and submitted upon arrival at the selection venue.

For serving military personnel, additional requirements include official leave or pass, military identity card, letter of sponsorship to a tertiary institution, and a letter of recommendation from commanding officers.

The Nigerian Army warned that any alteration or falsification of documents would result in immediate disqualification.

It assured candidates that feeding and accommodation would be provided throughout the duration of the selection board, but stressed that candidates would bear responsibility for their transportation to and from the venue.

The use of personal or private vehicles, as well as visits from friends or relatives during the exercise, has been strictly prohibited.

The Army also emphasised that a high standard of discipline would be enforced, noting that any candidate who violates instructions during the selection process would be disqualified.

It added that, due to the military nature of the exercise, the Nigerian Army would not be held liable for any injuries or deaths that may occur in the course of the selection board.

Candidates were advised to adhere strictly to all guidelines as contained in the announcement.
