The Bank of Industry (BOI) has resumed payment of the second batch of loans under the Tertiary Institution Staff Support Fund (TISSF) to staff of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID).
A non-teaching staff member of the institution confirmed to our correspondent on Thursday that he received payment of the loan into his bank account.
“I received my payment this evening,” the staff member said.
Our correspondent reports that the first batch of the TISSF loans was disbursed between November and December 2025 to approved beneficiaries across tertiary institutions.
The TISSF scheme, introduced by the Federal Government, provides interest-free loans to academic and non-academic staff of universities, polytechnics and colleges of education to support their welfare.
The loans, which are administered by the BOI, are targeted at addressing needs such as housing, healthcare, transportation and small business development.
The resumption of payments to UNIMAID staff marks the continuation of the Federal Government’s effort to ensure that all approved beneficiaries receive their loans in phases.
Further details on the total number of beneficiaries in the second batch were not immediately available at the time of filing this report.
