NAAT Updates Members on 2009 FGN Agreement Renegotiation

The National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) has updated its members on the ongoing renegotiation of the 2009 agreement with the Federal Government, assuring them that discussions have reached an advanced stage.

In a circular dated Feb. 27 and signed by its General Secretary, Comrade Engr. Abubakar V. Yusuf, the union said the National Executive Committee reviewed progress made so far at its meeting held on Feb. 23 at the National Secretariat Complex, Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja.

The union expressed optimism that the renegotiation, when concluded, would usher in improved welfare packages and better emoluments for members.

According to NAAT, significant progress has been recorded, particularly on non-salary conditions of service aimed at enhancing working conditions for academic technologists across universities.

It added that the review covers measures to uplift the status of laboratories, workshops, studios and farms in tertiary institutions.

The association noted that both monetary and non-monetary aspects of the renegotiation would soon be concluded in the shortest possible time.

NAAT leadership appealed to members to remain calm, resolute and confident in the ongoing process, while urging them to be prayerful for a successful outcome, especially during the Ramadan and Lent period.

“A people united can never be defeated,” the statement added.
