IGP Approves Counter-Terrorism Base in Adamawa

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Olatunji Disu, has approved the establishment of a new Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU) base in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State as part of efforts to strengthen security and tackle terrorism.

The development follows a collaboration between the Adamawa State Government, led by Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, and the Nigeria Police Force aimed at improving security in vulnerable communities.

The new CTU base is expected to enhance intelligence gathering, strengthen patrol operations and provide quicker response to security threats in Madagali and neighbouring areas.

In addition to the new base, the police leadership has also deployed more CTU personnel to various parts of the country to improve rapid response capability and ensure wider operational coverage.

According to the police authorities, the move forms part of a broader strategy to curb terrorism and violent attacks, particularly in areas that have experienced security challenges.

Residents of Madagali and surrounding communities have expressed hope that the increased security presence will lead to faster response to threats and improved protection of lives and property.

The IGP assured the public that the measures are aimed at protecting lives, maintaining peace and restoring citizens’ confidence in security agencies.

He also urged members of the public to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could help prevent crime and enhance safety in their communities.
