
Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has approved the appointment of senior personnel to oversee the affairs of the 11 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state following the expiration of the tenure of elected council chairmen.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Gombe, noting that officials were also appointed to manage the affairs of the 13 newly created Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
Njodi said the appointments were drawn from among serving secretaries and other qualified individuals within their respective LGAs.
He explained that the move was aimed at sustaining governance structures and ensuring continuity in service delivery at the grassroots level across the state.
According to the SSG, the appointments will take effect from April 24, 2026.
He added that the governor expects the newly appointed overseers to ensure administrative continuity and stability in the state’s local government system during the interim period.
The statement listed the appointees for the LGAs as Abdulkadir Abubakar (Akko), Adamu Ado (Balanga), Augustine Kurugu (Billiri), Adamu Julderu (Dukku), Saidu Abubakar (Funakaye), Aliyu Mohammed Dawaki (Gombe), Labte Aaron Andrew (Kaltungo), Bilkisu Mohammed Magaji (Kwami), Abubakar Yuguda (Nafada), James Emmanuel Dogo (Shongom), and Ibrahim Aliyu (Yamaltu/Deba).
It also named overseers for the newly created LCDAs, including Lamaran Ahmed (Akko West), Mohammed Ajiya (Akko North), Sarah Danjuma (Balanga South), Gladys Garba (Billiri West), Ahmed Usman (Dukku North), Bappayo Yaya (Funakaye South), Aishatu Mohammed Sadiq (Gombe South), Ibrahim Gambo (Kaltungo East), Muhammad Kabir Abdullahi (Kwami West), Muhammad Kabir (Nafada South), Saidu Manzo Filiya (Pero/Chonge), Haruna Shehu (Yamaltu/Deba East), and Dauda Umar (Yamaltu/Deba West).
The state government reiterated its commitment to maintaining effective governance at the local level pending further administrative arrangements.
