Fintiri imposes 24-hour curfew on Adamawa LGA

Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area following renewed violent attacks and breach of peace in some communities.

The curfew, which takes immediate effect, was announced in a statement on Sunday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou.

Fintiri said the decision became necessary to restore order and prevent further escalation of violence in the area.

“Government views these disturbances as unacceptable and has directed security agencies to enforce the curfew strictly,” the governor said.

He warned that anyone or group found violating the directive would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The governor said the curfew would remain in force until further notice.

He also directed security agencies to ensure strict compliance while maintaining law and order in the affected communities.

Fintiri urged residents of Lamurde Local Government Area to cooperate with security agencies and provide useful information that could help restore peace.

He reiterated that the government would not tolerate acts of violence and remained committed to protecting lives and property across the state.

“The government is committed to protecting lives and property and ensuring the safety of all citizens,” the governor said.
