
The Commandant of the Nigerian Army Armour School, Maj.-Gen. Abubakar Ahmed, has pledged to sustain the training of competent tank crew and armour personnel to support ongoing military operations in the North-East.
Ahmed made the pledge during an operational assessment visit to the Headquarters of the Operation Hadin Kai at the Maimalari Military Cantonment on Saturday.
During the visit, the commandant commended the resilience and achievements of troops of the Joint Task Force (North-East), noting their dedication and perseverance in safeguarding lives and property against insurgents in the region.
He also praised the professional conduct of troops and the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in Maiduguri.
Ahmed explained that the purpose of the visit was to reaffirm the support of the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps and assess the performance of armour personnel deployed to the theatre of operations.
According to him, the assessment would enable the visiting team to identify operational gaps and recommend measures to improve the performance of armour crew in the field.
The commandant expressed satisfaction with routine feedback received on the performance of armour personnel deployed to the theatre and assured continued provision of adequate platforms and sustained modular rotation of personnel supporting the operation.
In his remarks, the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Maj.-Gen. Abdusalam Abubakar, appreciated the commandant for regular assessment visits and the quality training provided to armour personnel.
Abubakar highlighted the critical role played by armour personnel in the overall success of Operation Hadin Kai, noting the commendable performance of graduates of the armour school.
He assured the visiting team of adequate maintenance of armour platforms and improved welfare of personnel operating in the theatre.
The visit featured interactive engagements with senior officers of Operation Hadin Kai, exchange of souvenirs, signing of the visitors’ book, and a group photograph.
