FG declares public holidays for Easter

The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, congratulating Christians in Nigeria and the diaspora on the occasion.

Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians to reflect on the virtues associated with the Easter season, including selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance and love, as exemplified by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

He called on citizens to promote unity and peaceful coexistence, stressing that Easter reminds Nigerians of the importance of tolerance and community spirit necessary for national progress.

The minister also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to implementing policies aimed at fostering national development, economic growth and shared prosperity.

Tunji-Ojo wished Christians across the country a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration.
