
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has approved the constitution of an ad-hoc committee on street naming and house numbering as part of efforts to strengthen urban planning and improve governance in Gombe State.
The approval was conveyed in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, who said the committee would provide a coordinated framework for proper street identification and house numbering across the state.
According to the statement, Isa Ibrahim Jalo will serve as Chairman of the committee.
Other members include the Executive Chairman of the Gombe State Urban Planning and Development Authority, Amb. B.M. Samanja; Tpl. Abubakar Uba Jatau and Arc. Ahmed Yahaya of the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transportation; as well as representatives of the Gombe Geographic Information System, including Tpl. Muhammad Nasir, Muhammad Aminu Abdullahi and Sadiq Yahaya.
Also appointed are Sani Lawal Bala of GOSUPDA, while Musa Adamu Kumo of GOGIS and David Yohanna of the Ministry of Justice will serve as Legal Advisers.
The Director-General of GOGIS, Kabiru Usman Hassan, will serve as Secretary of the committee.
The appointments take immediate effect.
Governor Yahaya said the committee is expected to deploy its expertise to promote an organised urban development framework anchored on data-driven governance, in line with his administration’s vision for sustainable growth and efficient city management.
