The All Progressives Congress in Yobe State has endorsed Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office.
The endorsement was made on Thursday at a stakeholders’ meeting held in Damaturu through a motion moved by Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan and seconded by the Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Chiroma Buba Mashio.
The motion was unanimously adopted by party stakeholders present at the meeting.
Addressing the gathering, the Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, said the state had benefitted from its alignment with the ruling party at the national level.
“It is gratifying that our alignment with the national party and government since 2015 has attracted some advantages to the state, which facilitated our reconstruction and recovery programme for the good of the state and its people,” Buni said.
He called on the people of the state to continue supporting the APC and to endorse President Tinubu for another term in office.
The governor commended stakeholders for demonstrating political maturity anchored on peace and collective interest.
“Although we may have differing political standing and opinions, we have never allowed violence in our political life. This is a testament that we are indeed the home of ‘Politics without Bitterness’ as advocated by one of our astute political leaders, the late Waziri Ibrahim,” he said.
Buni also appreciated residents of the state for their resilience and support to government recovery efforts aimed at rebuilding the state and improving livelihoods.
He further commended security operatives for their dedication to combating insecurity, noting that their sacrifices had contributed to the relative peace currently enjoyed in the state.
The endorsement, according to a statement signed by Mamman Mohammed, Director-General, Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to supporting President Tinubu ahead of future electoral contests.
