
An abandoned child found in the Chilo area of Kalshingi Ward in Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State has been named after the Local Government Overseer and Secretary, Barrister Abdullahi Abdulkadir.
The naming ceremony took place on Sunday in Akko, with community leaders, local government officials and residents in attendance.
The child was reportedly discovered under unclear circumstances before being rescued by residents and handed over to relevant authorities for care.
Speaking at the event, community leaders commended Abdulkadir for his humanitarian interventions and support for vulnerable persons in the area, describing the gesture as a symbol of compassion and social responsibility.
Abdulkadir, in his remarks, thanked God for the child’s safe condition and urged residents to show greater care for vulnerable children while calling on parents and guardians to be more responsible in child upbringing.
Residents prayed for the child and praised efforts by community members and authorities in ensuring the child’s welfare.
