Dantsoho Donates N115m Generator to FMC Jalingo, Boosts Healthcare Services

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has donated a 500kVA FG Wilson soundproof generator valued at N115 million to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jalingo, as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery in Taraba State.

The donation was made under the NPA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at supporting critical sectors, including healthcare and human development.

Speaking during the presentation, the Managing Director of NPA, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, said the intervention was designed to address persistent power supply challenges at the hospital and improve service delivery to patients.

According to him, reliable electricity is essential for the effective operation of modern healthcare facilities, particularly in the provision of emergency and specialist medical services.

The generator is expected to significantly reduce disruptions caused by power outages and enhance the capacity of the hospital to provide uninterrupted healthcare services to thousands of patients who depend on the facility.

Stakeholders in the state described the donation as a timely intervention that would improve the hospital’s operational efficiency and support healthcare workers in delivering quality medical care.

They expressed appreciation to the NPA management for extending the intervention to Taraba State and urged the hospital management to ensure proper maintenance of the equipment to guarantee its long-term use.

The stakeholders also expressed optimism that additional healthcare support projects reportedly being considered by the authority, including the provision of portable X-ray equipment, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) facilities and Computed Tomography (CT) scan machines, would further strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the state.

The donation underscores the NPA’s commitment to supporting public institutions and contributing to national development through strategic social investment programmes.
