Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has mourned the death of the former Governor of Yobe State, Alhaji Bukar Abba Ibrahim.
Governor Zulum, while praying for the repose of the soul of the former governor, extends his condolences to the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, his immediate family, and the people of Yobe over the loss.
Zulum urged them to take solace in Allah, noting that death is an ordained process that every living creature shall pass through.
“I wish to extend my commiserations to my brother Governor Mai Mala Buni and the family of our late elder statesman over the huge loss. May Allah forgive his soul and admit him into Jannat ul Firdaus,” Zulum said.
Zulum described late Bukar Abba as a dedicated public servant who contributed immensely to the development of both Borno and Yobe States.
Governor Zulum also sympathized with the people of Borno State, where the ex-governor worked from 1985 to 1988 as a civil servant and rose to become a commissioner of works.
Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim died at the age of 75 after a protracted illness at a hospital in Mecca, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The late Bukar Abba served as the Governor of Yobe from January 1992 to November 1993 and later from May 29, 1999, to May 29, 2007.
He was elected under the platform of the All Nigerian People’s Party (ANPP) to represent Yobe East Senatorial District in 2007 and was re-elected in 2011.
