Mrs. Queen Kunde Enoch, President of Taimako Women in Media, has urged the Taraba State House of Assembly to pass a law enabling the free distribution of sanitary pads to women and girls.
This call was made on Thursday during the distribution of 500 sanitary pads at Kpantinapu Market in Jalingo LGA, Taraba State.
Emphasizing the necessity of providing sanitary pads to women and girls, Mrs. Enoch highlighted the natural occurrence of their monthly period, stressing that it’s an unavoidable aspect of life.
She also noted the increasing poverty level in neglected communities like Kpantinapu, making it essential to support women in these areas.
Mrs. Enoch revealed that her team visited the House of Assembly to request the enactment of a law for free distribution of pads, and the clerk, who was receptive to the idea, provided guidance on the process.
She expressed optimism, stating, “The house is currently working on drafting a bill in that regard, and hopefully it will see the light of day.”
As efforts are underway to address this important issue, the potential enactment of such a law could significantly impact the lives of women and girls in Taraba State. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
