Borno Shuts Down Schools Over Flooding

The Borno State Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation has on Monday directed the immediate closure of all primary and secondary schools in the state due to the ongoing flooding.

A statement signed by Grema Bulama, Acting Director of Schools Services, on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner, said the closure would last for two weeks.

The statement said the decision was taken to ensure the safety of students and staff as the floodwaters continue to rise, causing widespread disruption and damage.

The closure, which takes effect immediately, affects both public and private schools, and is expected to last until September 23, 2024.
