Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has highlighted Nigeria’s pressing challenges with insecurity and unemployment, calling for strengthened institutions to address these issues.
Mohamme made these remarks while presenting a paper titled ‘Vocational Training and National Development: The Bauchi State Perspective’ to Course 33 participants of the National Defense College, Abuja, currently on a study tour in Bauchi State.
He emphasized that technical and vocational training can reduce youth restiveness and unemployment, which are intertwined with issues like hunger and joblessness.
Mohammed, however, shared his administration’s initiatives, including establishing 18 vocational training centers across the state.
Governor Bala while detailing the significant investments in the education sector and local job creation through infrastructure projects, stressed the importance of strengthening critical sectors such as health, education, and agriculture to complement security efforts and address Nigeria’s multi-dimensional challenges.
The delegation from the National Defense College, led by Brigadier General Mohammed Sani Usman, expressed gratitude to Governor Bala and his team for sharing insights relevant to their study on national security challenges.
Brigadier General Usman noted that the presentation would enhance their research and strategy development for improved security in Nigeria.
The session concluded with a question-and-answer period, where Governor Bala and other officials addressed inquiries from the visiting defense college participants.
The team coordinator, Colonel Abbas Umar, extended appreciation to Governor Bala on behalf of the delegation, commending the state’s hospitality and support during their study tour.
