Buni Mourns Accident Victims, Orders Crackdown on Traffic Violations

Yobe state Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni has charged road traffic agencies in the state to ensure full observance of traffic laws before, during and after, the end of the year festive season.

Governor Buni gave the charge on Wednesday while reacting to a road traffic accident along Bayari-Geidam federal highway, which claimed some lives.

The Governor condoled with the families of the deceased persons, saying their death was a huge loss to the state and their families.

Gov. Buni charged the federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), the Yobe Road Traffic Agency (YOROTA), and the Vehicle Inspection Department to ensure drivers and their vehicles are qualied and road worthy to ply the roads.

“The road traffic unions have huge roles to play, and we count on your cooperation to ensure safety of motorists and passengers plying the roads.

“You should ensure that only road worthy vehicles and qualified drivers ply the roads, and observe all traffic laws.

“You should also ensure that the lives of our people are not put to risk in the hands of under aged drivers, rickety and over loaded vehicles”

Governor Buni described the death of the passengers as sad and great loss to their families and the state.

He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased persons, and grant their families the fortitude to bear the sad, unfortunate and irreparable loss.
