Who We Are

Insight Northeast Nigeria is an independent digital news platform founded in 2022 and headquartered in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. We are one of the few digital-first news organizations dedicated entirely to the Northeast region — covering Adamawa, Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Taraba, and Yobe States — while simultaneously building a growing global readership across more than 150 countries worldwide.

We were founded on a simple but urgent observation: that Northeast Nigeria — a region of extraordinary historical significance, complex contemporary challenges, and remarkable human resilience — deserved journalism that matched its importance. News coverage of the Northeast had long been dominated by crisis reporting and external perspectives. Insight Northeast was built to tell the full story of the region, from the inside, by people who understand it.

Today, Insight Northeast Nigeria has grown into a multi-dimensional news platform that serves two distinct but equally important audiences: the communities of Northeast Nigeria who need trusted local news, and a global readership of Nigerians, diaspora communities, and international readers who come to us for authoritative coverage of health, personal finance, insurance, technology, and public policy.

“We were not built to chase headlines. We were built to provide the kind of journalism that helps people understand their world and make better decisions within it.”

Our Mission

To deliver accurate, independent, and impactful journalism that informs the people of Northeast Nigeria, serves the Nigerian diaspora, and contributes meaningfully to public understanding of the issues that shape Nigerian and global life — including governance, health, finance, law, technology, and human rights.

What We Cover

Insight Northeast Nigeria operates across two coverage streams that reflect both our regional identity and our global ambition.

🗺️ Northeast Nigeria Coverage

  • Breaking news across all six Northeast states
  • State and federal government affairs
  • Security and humanitarian reporting
  • Education, scholarships, and youth empowerment
  • Sports, culture, and community stories
  • Adamawa, Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Taraba, Yobe

🌍 Global Content Coverage

  • Health and wellness guides — evidence-based
  • Personal finance, savings, and investment
  • Insurance, legal rights, and consumer protection
  • Technology, artificial intelligence, and digital life
  • UK, US, and Canadian news for diaspora readers
  • Public policy and workers’ rights reporting

This dual coverage model reflects a deliberate editorial strategy. Our local readers need trusted, timely information about their communities. Our global readers — including members of the Nigerian diaspora in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, and across Europe — need journalism that connects them both to home and to the broader world they navigate daily. Insight Northeast serves both needs without compromise.

Our Editorial Values

Accuracy First
Every factual claim we publish is verified before it reaches our readers. We do not publish rumors. We do not speculate as fact. When we are wrong, we correct it transparently and immediately.
⚖️
Editorial Independence
No advertiser, political party, or government agency directs our editorial decisions. Our newsroom operates with complete independence from our commercial activities.
🔍
Public Interest
We ask one question before every story: does this serve the public? If the answer is yes, we pursue it regardless of how powerful the people or institutions involved may be.
🤝
Fairness
We give all relevant parties the opportunity to respond before we publish. We present all sides of a story. We do not allow personal or political biases to distort our reporting.
🛡️
Source Protection
We protect the confidentiality of sources who trust us with sensitive information. Protecting sources is not negotiable — it is the foundation of trusted journalism.
📈
Continuous Improvement
We hold ourselves to evolving professional standards. We invest in our team’s development, review our editorial processes regularly, and listen to feedback from our readers.

Why Insight Northeast Exists

Northeast Nigeria is home to over 22 million people across six states. It is a region of remarkable cultural depth, significant natural resources, growing educational institutions, and extraordinary human stories — alongside genuine security, humanitarian, and governance challenges that demand rigorous, responsible reporting.

For too long, coverage of the Northeast was overwhelmingly defined by the security crisis and produced largely by journalists from outside the region. The voices, perspectives, and daily realities of Northeast Nigeria’s communities were underrepresented in national and international media.

Insight Northeast Nigeria was founded to change that. We believe that the people of the Northeast deserve journalism that sees them fully — their politics, their achievements, their health challenges, their economic ambitions, and their cultural richness — not only their crises.

At the same time, we recognize that our readers — whether in Maiduguri, Lagos, London, or Houston — live in an increasingly connected world where decisions about health, finances, insurance, and technology require reliable information. Our global content serves this need: providing the same standard of evidence-based, expert-reviewed journalism to every reader, regardless of where they access us.
