
The Senate of the Nigerian Army University, Biu (NAUB), Borno State, has elected Prof. Ahmad Imam as the Acting Vice Chancellor of the institution.
Imam, who was the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) and Director of Research, was elected during the university’s second special Senate meeting on Friday.
Addressing the Senate after his election, Imam pledged to sustain the policies of the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kyari Mohammed, to ensure academic excellence.
“I wish to sincerely appreciate you for finding me worthy to lead this institution. I assure you that the measures implemented by the outgoing Vice Chancellor will be sustained for academic excellence,” he said.
He also promised to collaborate with the newly constituted Governing Council for the smooth running of the university, prioritize staff welfare, and address outstanding concerns within the university community.
The acting vice chancellor also prayed for the safe return of Prof. Abubakar El-Jummah, who was kidnapped along the Biu-Damboa road, and urged staff to avoid unsafe routes.
In his remarks, the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kyari Mohammed, thanked the Senate and the university community for their support during his tenure and urged them to extend the same cooperation to his successor.
