Buni Visits 27 Task Force Brigade, Donates N50m, Supports Families of Fallen Soldiers

Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe on Friday visited the Headquarters of the 27 Task Force Brigade, Buni Gari, to commiserate with the military over a recent insurgent attack on the formation.

Buni described the attack as unfortunate and a setback in the ongoing efforts to end insurgency in the region.

“The gallant officers did not die in vain; they died defending their fatherland,” he said.

The governor donated N2 million to each family of the fallen soldiers and N1 million to each of the injured personnel.

He also pledged educational support for the children of the deceased.

Buni announced an additional N50 million donation to be shared among troops of the brigade, and presented food items, mattresses, blankets and other essential supplies to the soldiers.

He assured the brigade of the continued support of the state government and residents in the fight against insurgency.

“We will continue to complement your efforts to improve security around your formations,” he said.

Buni directed the reinforcement of security around the brigade’s base to forestall further attacks.

Earlier, the Brigade Commander, Brig.-Gen. Usman Ahmed, conducted the governor round the formation and thanked him for the visit and the support extended to the troops.

Ahmed described the gesture as a morale booster and a demonstration of leadership.
