Yobe state Governor, Mai Mala Buni, was honoured by the Fulaaku Gerema’s as Gainako of Yobe on Thursday with a gift of 42 Cows.
According to Yusuf Ali, Senior Special Assistant on Communications and Strategy to the Governor, Buni was honoured at a grand reception organised by Fulaaku Gerema’s, held at Dikumari Football Play Ground along Potiskum road, Damaturu.
During the reception, Governor Buni assured that his administration will not relent in ensuring peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders across the state towards achieving much desired economic prosperity for all.
He said his administration will continue to provide the enabling environment for cattle breeders to ensure peaceful coexistence among farmers and herders in the state.
The Governor said that in the 2024 budget there is provisions to provide more devident of democracy to the electorate for continuity and consolidation of his administration’s developmental initiatives.
He explained that his administration would focus on provisions of portable drinking water, qualitative education, healthcare, roads construction and construction of mores water dams for cattle breeders in the state.
Governor Buni commended the cordial relationship existing between farmers and herders in the state and encourage them to avoid conflict.
He called on the Fulani community to engaged in farming, business and the traditions of cattle breeding to improve their socioeconomic development.
Governor Buni expressed appreciation to the Fulani community for honouring him saying it will spur him to do more for the people.
Earlier the Speaker Yobe state House of Assembly, Hon. Chiroma Buba Mashio said the reception was organized to honour the Governor for his concern to the Fulani community by the Fulaaku Gerema’s.
The speaker commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for construction of Nazari livestock development Center and proposed Gurjiyaje livestock development among others numerous interventions to herder and Fulani community in general.
He presented the request made by the Fulaaku Gerema’s to the Governor which among others are cattle route, access to water, normadic education among others.
In his welcome address, the District Head of Wagir said Fulani community are very grateful to the present administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni for appoiting their sons into different positions.
The District Head further added that this is first of its kind in the history of the state for having a Fulani as Speaker and over ten as members of the state executive council.
