FG Begins Payment of N35,000 Wage Award Arrears – OAGF

The Federal Government has commenced the payment of N35,000 wage award arrears to federal civil servants, the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) has confirmed.

A statement issued in Abuja on Monday by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Mr. Bawa Mokwa, said several government workers confirmed receipt of the payment earlier in the day.

According to the statement, the Accountant General of the Federation, Mr. Babatunde Ogunjimi, reiterated that he never stated the wage award was excluded from the N54.99 trillion 2025 budget.

“The Accountant General of the Federation did not brief the press on the wage award issue and reaffirms that the Federal Government remains committed to paying the outstanding arrears as promised,” the statement read in part.

The OAGF clarified that the disbursement of the wage award arrears would be done in five installments of N35,000 each.

The wage award was part of the Federal Government’s palliative measures to cushion the impact of recent economic reforms on public sector workers.
