2025 Cropping Season: Gov. Buni Supports IDPs, Host Communities with Farm Inputs

Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe on Tuesday flagged off the distribution of farm inputs to 1,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and their host communities in Mandunari, as part of efforts to boost agricultural production during the 2025 cropping season.

The items distributed include assorted improved seedlings, fertilizers, herbicides, solar-powered water pumps for irrigation, hoes, cutlasses and other farm tools.

Speaking during the distribution exercise, Buni urged the beneficiaries to utilize the inputs effectively, stressing the importance of agriculture to food security and economic development.

He warned against the diversion or sale of the materials, saying the government’s aim was to empower people and promote self-reliance.

“The state government will continue to support our people to embrace agriculture as a means of livelihood, food sufficiency and economic growth,” he said.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to rebuilding lives and supporting vulnerable groups, especially those affected by insurgency.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Mukhtar Mandunari appreciated the gesture and pledged the community’s commitment to safeguarding the materials.

He warned that anyone found selling off the inputs would be blacklisted from future interventions.

“Mandunari community will take responsibility to ensure strict monitoring and compliance,” he assured.

The initiative is part of the state government’s broader agricultural support programme aimed at restoring livelihoods and ensuring sustainable development in post-conflict communities.
