The University of Maiduguri has lost one of its senior academics, Professor Sadiq Garba Othman, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy.
Prof. Othman reportedly died on Wednesday night after a prolonged illness.
A family friend, Sadiq Umar, who confirmed the incident on Thursday, described the passing of the professor as a great loss.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. It is with deep sorrow and sadness that I announce the demise of Prof. Sadiq Garba Othman, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy,” Umar said.
The family said the funeral prayer would take place by 2:00 p.m. at the Pompomari Housing Estate Juma’at Mosque, Ngala Close, Maiduguri.
Late Prof. Othman was known for his immense contributions to pharmaceutical education and research, as well as his mentorship of students and younger academics.
