The Adamawa State Government has conducted a qualifying examination for 27 candidates vying for the position of Permanent Secretaries in the state civil service.
The examination, organised by the Office of the Head of Civil Service under the leadership of Pharm. Shehu Isa Ardo, began with a written test on Tuesday at the Nyako Complex, State Secretariat. An oral interview is scheduled for Wednesday at the same venue.
The candidates, drawn from eight local government areas – Madagali, Mubi North, Gombi, Girei, Yola North, Fufore, Demsa and Shelleng – were shortlisted after a selection process. Toungo and Mubi South LGAs had no qualifying candidates.
The written examination was conducted by a panel chaired by the Head of Civil Service, with the Permanent Secretary (Administration), Mr Oliver Gani, as a member. Officials from the Department of State Services (DSS) observed the process.
Ardo, while addressing the candidates, urged them to demonstrate discipline and professionalism during the exercise. He said only the most qualified candidates would be recommended for appointment, especially where more than one candidate emerged from the same LGA.
A representative from the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Mr Dada Joseph O., who monitored the examination, briefed the candidates on key aspects of management, government instructions and administrative objectives.
According to the Office of the Head of Civil Service, the results will be forwarded to Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for consideration and possible appointments.
