Kefas Meets Taraba Traditional Rulers On Peace, Land Use, And Community Development

Gov. Agbu Kefas of Taraba on Thursday met with traditional rulers in the state to discuss their roles in fostering peace and promoting community development.

The meeting, held in Jalingo, also addressed concerns over indiscriminate sale of land, illegal mining activities, issuance of consent letters to miners, indiscriminate appointment of Ardos, and the uncontrolled conferment of traditional titles.

Kefas said traditional institutions remained critical partners in bridging the gap between government and the grassroots, stressing the need for collaboration to enhance peace and good governance.

“Our traditional rulers are central to advancing stability and development in Taraba. We must work together to strengthen their roles in ensuring effective governance,” he said.

The governor assured that his administration would continue to engage the traditional councils to ensure that issues threatening communal harmony and sustainable development were tackled.
