The Adamawa State Police Command has deployed personnel across key locations and critical infrastructures ahead of the planned protest by the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) scheduled for Monday.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement issued in Yola on Monday, saying the deployment was a proactive measure to maintain public order and ensure the protection of lives and property.
Nguroje said the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, had directed that operatives be stationed at strategic points across the state to forestall any breakdown of law and order during the protest.
“The deployment is part of the Command’s proactive efforts to ensure the protection of lives and property, as well as the maintenance of law and order across the state,” the statement read.
It added that the Command, in collaboration with other sister security agencies, had commenced a joint operation and show of force in major routes, public places, and sensitive government installations.
“This is aimed at dominating the public space, deterring any form of violence or breach of peace, and boosting public confidence in the state’s overall security architecture,” Nguroje stated.
The police spokesman urged residents to remain law-abiding and go about their lawful businesses without fear, assuring that adequate security arrangements had been made to safeguard all parts of the state.
He, however, warned potential troublemakers to desist from acts capable of disrupting public peace, stressing that the police would not hesitate to deal decisively with anyone found attempting to cause unrest.
Nguroje reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful environment before, during, and after the planned protest, in line with the constitutional responsibility of the Nigeria Police Force to maintain internal security.
