Borno Industrial Hub Boosts Local Production as Zulum Inspects Ongoing Projects

The Borno State Industrial Hub along the Maiduguri–Kano road has recorded significant progress in local production, as Governor Babagana Umara Zulum inspected the facility on Thursday morning.

Operating under a public-private partnership, the hub is emerging as a centre for industrial revival in the state, supporting efforts to rebuild the economy after years of insurgency disruption.

During the inspection, Governor Zulum expressed satisfaction with the level of work and reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to ensure that the hub operates at full capacity.

The state government is investing heavily in complementary infrastructure, including an N11 billion internal road network and a N5 billion solar power plant to guarantee uninterrupted operations.

The Industrial Hub currently houses five production units — for plastic products, pipes, sacks, and solar panels. Its daily output includes 100,000 sacks, 10,000 conduit pipes, and 18,500 assorted water pipes of various sizes.

Zulum described the hub as a milestone in Borno’s post-insurgency recovery, stressing that the facility would not only enhance local manufacturing but also provide employment opportunities and boost the state’s internally generated revenue.

“The industrial hub is part of our broader strategy to build a self-reliant economy driven by productivity and innovation,” the governor said.

He was accompanied by government officials and technical experts overseeing the project.
