
Lt Col Awwal Isa has achieved a historic milestone as Nigeria’s first Associate Professor of Intelligence and Security.
Isa, who hails from Taraba State, currently serves as the pioneer Head of the Department of Intelligence and Security Science at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna.
In a statement issued on Friday by Barr. Yakubu Kaku, Isa’s academic and professional accomplishments were described as a “remarkable blend of scholarship and service to the nation.”
Isa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Maiduguri, a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Abuja, and a Master of Arts in Security and Intelligence Studies from the University of Buckingham, United Kingdom.
Driven by his passion for advancing intelligence studies, he further obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Security and Intelligence Studies from the same institution.
According to Kaku, Isa’s elevation to the rank of Associate Professor marks a significant breakthrough for Nigeria’s security education landscape.
“Lt Col Awwal Isa’s elevation is a groundbreaking achievement, not only for the Nigerian Defence Academy but also for the entire nation’s security education sector,” he said.
Isa is a Fellow of the Institute of Intelligence and National Security and a registered member of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
Barrister Kaku congratulated Isa, describing him as “a trailblazer whose intellectual contributions will continue to shape the future of intelligence education and national security in Nigeria.”
