Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has expressed a strong commitment to collaborate with the Taraba state government to enhance peace building efforts, aiming to positively impact the lives of people in both states.
This announcement was made during the opening ceremony of the long-standing Nwonyo Fishing Festival in Taraba state on Friday.
The Nwonyo Fishing Festival, which dates back to 1903, has been a symbol of tradition and a promoter of the conservation of the national heritage of the people in Ibi local government area of Taraba state.
The annual 2-day festival marks the beginning of the fishing season with water sport displays, masquerade dances, traditional entertainment, and culminates in a spectacular fishing competition on the second day.
Governor Umaru Fintiri commended Governor Kefas Agbu for the renewed effort in conserving and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the people of Taraba state.
He also praised the Jukun nation for their peace enterprise, urging them to sustain the dynamism of the Nwonyo festival and continue supporting the Agbu Kefas-led administration for the overall good of the state.
