The Adamawa Government has constituted a joint committee to review and implement wage increment for 11 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) that are yet to benefit from the recent salary adjustment.
Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri made this known on Thursday in Yola, during the 2025 Workers’ Day celebration at Mahmud Ribadu Square.
The governor, represented by his deputy, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, said the committee, chaired by the Head of Civil Service, Pharmacist Shehu Isa, would work with relevant stakeholders to address issues affecting workers in the affected MDAs.
He said the government remained committed to improving the welfare of workers through prompt salary payment, capacity building, and human capital development.
“We recognise the challenges being faced by our workers and we are committed to creating an enabling environment for them to thrive,” he said.
Fintiri also commended the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) for its commitment to promoting workers’ rights and social justice.
Earlier, the NLC Chairman in Adamawa, Comrade Emmanuel Fashe, decried the high cost of electricity tariffs, compounded by the band classification of power supply.
He listed the affected MDAs to include the Bureau for Public Procurement, Offices of the Accountant-General and Auditor-General, the Judiciary, and the Legislature.
“These agencies are yet to feel the impact of the wage increase, due to existing legal constraints,” Fashe said.
The event featured a march past by affiliate unions of the NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), with various groups receiving commendation awards.
