Adamawa state Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has appreciated the military for maintenance of peace in the state and unity of Nigeria.
Addressing journalists in Yola on Monday shortly after laying a wreath during Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, Fintiri said Nigeria is most grateful to have gallant military personnel who laid down their lives to maintain oneness of the country.
Represented by the state Deputy Governor, Prof Kaletapwa George Farauta, Fintiri said government is not taking the sacrifice of the military for granted.
”Government would carry along families of fallen heros and support them. For military personnel who are alive, we pray God to protect them, so that we the civilians can sleep with our two eyes closed.
“Our prayers is that God will continue to protect the military in their places of work,” the governor said.
He urged the citizens of the state to support families of fallen heroes.
”Wherever you are living with families of fallen heros, ensure you support them, because their husbands laid their lives for us,” the governor said.
Earlier, the state chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Master Warrant Officer Ali Mohammed (Retired), solicited more support for their members not to end up in small businesses at ‘Mami markets’ across the country due to poverty.
”Governments should support the Nigerian Legion for our role in ensuring Nigeria remains one nation,” Ali Mohammed said
