Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have killed two loggers in a bush around Dure/Wala communities, in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
The Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Mohammed Shehu Timta, confirmed that the incident took place on Tuesday.
He said the terrorists ambushed the loggers who went to fetch wood around Dure-wale and mandara mountain area.
“Their bodies have been recovered and buried according to their religious rites,” he said.
The monarch revealed that trenches were dug to prevent the insurgents from carrying out frequent attacks on innocent citizens in the area.
“With the digging of trenches between Gwoza and Mandara Mountains bordering Cameroon Republic, the attacks have seriously subsided. I appeal to the government to extend the trenches to Limankara communities,” he said.
He appreciated the state government and security agents for their efforts in tackling security challenges around Mandara mountain and Sambisa forest.
