Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has been honoured with the prestigious Best Governor of the Year 2024 award at the 17th Annual Leadership Newspaper Conference and Awards held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The event, which brought together governors, business leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders from across the country, celebrated individuals and institutions contributing significantly to national development.
Governor Mohammed was recognised for outstanding achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and economic development within Bauchi State.
The award was received on his behalf by the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y. Sulaiman. Following the ceremony, Sulaiman led a delegation of top government officials to formally present the award to the governor.
In his remarks, Governor Mohammed expressed gratitude to Leadership Newspaper for the honour and dedicated the award to the people of Bauchi State.
“This award is not just for me; it is for the resilient and supportive people of Bauchi who have stood with us. It will encourage me to do more in delivering inclusive development and good governance,” he said.
Nigeria’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Chief Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), commended Leadership Newspaper for its role in promoting democratic values and national growth through credible journalism.
Chairperson of the Leadership Group, Mrs. Zainab Nda Isaiah, said the awards aim to spotlight excellence and reaffirm the organisation’s commitment to the guiding principle, “For God and Country.”
Also speaking, former FCT Minister, Dr. Aliyu Modibbo Umar, who represented Vice President Kashim Shettima, reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to grassroots development, especially the push for local government autonomy.
