Gov. Bala Donates Vehicles to Vigilante Groups, Pledges Stronger Security Support

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing grassroots security with the donation of seven operational vehicles to the Bauchi State Vigilante and Youth Empowerment Agency.

Speaking during a brief handover ceremony at the Government House, the Governor lauded the dedication, sacrifice, and resilience of the agency’s personnel under the leadership of Commandant Umar Aliyu Shayi. He described them as vital defenders in hard-to-reach and high-risk communities across the state.

Governor Mohammed stated that the donation followed recommendations from the State Security Committee, stressing the crucial role played by local security outfits in complementing the efforts of formal security agencies.

“We appreciate the collaborative efforts of our security architecture—the police, DSS, civil defence, the army, and especially our vigilante operatives—for their professionalism and strict adherence to the rule of law,” he said.

The Governor also disclosed plans to collaborate with the North East Development Commission (NEDC) and other federal institutions to address logistical and operational constraints affecting security operatives in the state.

In a forward-looking move, he announced the state government’s intention to deploy drone surveillance technology to bolster intelligence gathering and enhance security monitoring in difficult terrain and remote locations.

Also speaking at the event, Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Aminu Hammayo, and Commissioner of Police, Sani Aliyu Omolori, described the gesture as a strategic intervention that would strengthen Bauchi’s integrated security framework.

They commended the Governor’s proactive stance and reiterated their commitment to ensuring peace and safety across the state.
