Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has pledged to tackle hunger by providing humanitarian aid, urging farmers to leverage the upcoming rainy season to enhance food production and ensure food security in the state.
During the kickoff of the palliative distribution at the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi on Thursday, Governor Mohammed emphasized the importance of utilizing Ramadan to pray for Bauchi State and Nigeria while announcing a 2 billion naira allocation for grain purchases.
Acknowledging support from entities like the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC), and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, the Governor highlighted the distribution’s goal of ensuring citizens have access to vital food supplies during challenging times.
Governor Bala disclosed the formation of committees, led by the Chief of Staff, to oversee procurement, security, and fair distribution to recipients, cautioning that any shortcomings or violations during the process would be held accountable.
With a commitment to transparency and integrity, the Governor revealed plans to distribute 40,000 bags of maize, 40,000 bags of millet, 20,000 bags of rice, and 10,000 bags of sugar across wards, with the third phase of the initiative already in progress.
The event was graced by traditional leaders, senior government officials, and other dignitaries, underscoring the government’s dedication to alleviating hunger and ensuring equitableaid distribution in Bauchi State.
