
Gov. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the media as a key pillar of democracy and good governance.
Mohammed stated this on Tuesday at the 80th General Assembly of the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), held at the Command Guest House, Bauchi.
Addressing the gathering, he emphasized the role of responsible journalism in shaping public discourse and fostering national unity.
The governor also reiterated his administration’s readiness to collaborate with stakeholders in combating misinformation and fake news, which he described as threats to security.
Welcoming BON members to Bauchi, Mohammed commended the organization for its efforts in ensuring the dissemination of credible information.
He highlighted his government’s initiatives to improve communication infrastructure, creating a more conducive environment for media operations in the state.
The assembly brought together key players in the media and broadcasting industry to discuss strategies for strengthening the sector’s contribution to national development.
