Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to children’s welfare with the donation of ₦50 million to the Hope Alive Initiative, a foundation affiliated with the Ooni of Ife, to support its 2025 aid programme for the less privileged.
Mohammed made the announcement on Thursday while receiving Olori Temitope Morenikeji Adesegun Ogunwusi, wife of the Ooni of Ife, during a courtesy visit to the Government House, Bauchi.
He commended the Ooni of Ife for his dedication to philanthropy and community development, stressing the importance of traditional rulers’ involvement in social empowerment initiatives.
“Our administration is committed to supporting programmes that uplift vulnerable groups. The ₦50 million donation will complement the foundation’s efforts, particularly in providing support to disadvantaged children during the upcoming Valentine’s Day celebration on Feb. 14, 2025,” he said.
Speaking earlier, Olori Temitope said Bauchi State had been chosen as a beneficiary of the foundation’s annual aid programme.
She lauded Mohammed’s leadership style, describing him as a democratic leader worth emulating.
“Bauchi was selected as a host state due to its diverse traditions, religious harmony, and remarkable hospitality,” she said.
She also praised the governor’s integrity and commitment to social development.
Responding, Mohammed thanked the Ooni’s palace for selecting Bauchi for the programme and assured the delegation of his administration’s continued support for humanitarian initiatives.
The Hope Alive Initiative focuses on education, healthcare, and social welfare support for vulnerable children across Nigeria.
