Gov. Bala Reaffirms Support for Traditional Institutions, Visits Duguri and Bununu Emirates

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening traditional institutions as instruments for unity, peace, and sustainable development across the state.

The governor stated this during visits to his hometown, Duguri, and the Bununu Emirate on Saturday, where he paid homage to the newly appointed Emirs of both domains.

While in Duguri, Governor Mohammed visited the palace of the new Emir, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed Duguri, where he paid homage and congratulated him on his appointment.

He said his family had historically been part of the ruling lineage of Duguri, tracing their inheritance of the throne through generations of leadership within the community.

Describing the appointment of Alhaji Adamu Mohammed Duguri as well-deserved and the product of due process, merit, and broad consultation, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to ensure the stability and success of all newly created emirates in the state.

Governor Mohammed urged the Emir to embrace inclusivity in leadership, collaborate with relevant stakeholders, and work towards enhancing socio-economic development across the emirate.

He commended the smooth takeoff of the new Duguri Emirate and called on the people to rally around their Emir for peace, unity, and progress.

Responding, the Emir of Duguri, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed Duguri, expressed gratitude to Governor Mohammed for his support and pledged loyalty to the state government.

He called on the people of Duguri to unite and work collectively towards the development and prosperity of the emirate.

Similarly, during a courtesy visit to the palace of the newly appointed Emir of Bununu, Alhaji Jibrin Danladi Hassan, in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area, Governor Mohammed congratulated the Emir on his ascension to the throne, describing his selection as a reflection of his wisdom, integrity, and dedication to community service.

The governor said the emergence of Alhaji Jibrin Danladi Hassan followed due process and recognised his outstanding contributions to peace and cohesion within the Bauchi Emirate system.

He noted that traditional rulers remain custodians of culture and moral values and play a central role in maintaining peace, resolving community conflicts, and supporting government initiatives at the grassroots.

Governor Mohammed reiterated that his administration would continue to work closely with traditional institutions to deepen governance and ensure that development reaches all parts of Bauchi State.

In his remarks, the Emir of Bununu, Alhaji Jibrin Danladi Hassan, thanked the governor for the visit and pledged his loyalty to the government.

He also assured continued support for peace, security, and socio-economic progress within the Bununu Emirate.
