Gov. Bala Reshuffles Cabinet, Swears In New Commissioner of Higher Education

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has reshuffled his cabinet and sworn in five newly appointed government officials into various positions in the state and local government service.

The swearing-in ceremony was held on Tuesday at the Government House Council Chamber, Bauchi.

Those sworn in include Hajiya Hadiza Abdulkadir Kango as Commissioner and member of the Bauchi State Executive Council; Hajiya Jummai Salamatu Abubakar from Dass Local Government as Chairperson, Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission; Iliya Isa from Dambam as Executive Chairman, Dambam Local Government Area; Babaji Idris Shehu as Auditor General for Local Governments; and Abubakar Usman Misau as Permanent Commissioner, Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission.

In his remarks, Governor Mohammed said the appointments were made to fill vacancies created by the resignation, retirement, and death of previous officeholders.

He explained that the selection process was guided by merit, experience, and the principles of equity and inclusiveness. The governor congratulated the appointees and urged them to uphold diligence, integrity, and transparency in the discharge of their duties.

He also cautioned them against abusing their offices or pursuing personal interests at the expense of the public good.

The governor particularly charged the new Commissioner for Higher Education, Hajiya Hadiza Abdulkadir Kango—who swapped portfolios with the former Commissioner for Higher Education and Regional Integration, Dr. Lydia Haruna Tsammani—to align with the administration’s policy direction and work closely with her permanent secretary to achieve the ministry’s objectives.

Speaking on behalf of the appointees, Abubakar Usman Misau expressed gratitude to the governor for the confidence reposed in them and assured of their commitment to work diligently, remain loyal, and contribute to the administration’s success.
