Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has departed Nigeria for Banjul, The Gambia, where he will participate in the inaugural Sahel Governance Forum, holding from July 30 to 31, 2025.
The governor is attending the high-level regional event at the invitation of the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation. He is expected to serve as a panellist and key delegate at the forum, which is being organised in collaboration with the Government of The Gambia, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP–WACA), the United Nations Office for West and Central Africa (UNOWAS), and the Office of the Special Coordinator for Development in the Sahel.
Governor Mohammed will join former Nigerian President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, and other notable African leaders to engage in strategic conversations on democratic governance, peacebuilding, and sustainable development across the Sahel region.
The Sahel Governance Forum aims to foster inclusive dialogue and collective action in addressing the region’s growing challenges, including insecurity, climate change, and governance deficits.
The governor’s participation underscores Bauchi State’s growing role in regional and international conversations on governance and development, and aligns with his administration’s commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and fostering peace and prosperity at home and abroad.
